Are You Really Speaking Your Truth Or Just Using It As An Excuse?

Are You Really Speaking Your Truth Or Using It As An Excuse?

We hear of the importance of speaking our truth and using our voices all the time and I agree. I am learning though that there is a big difference between speaking our truth, which comes from our highest selves, to spewing words that come from our ego or wounded inner child. People can use speaking their truth as an excuse to say whatever is on their minds when they’re in a place of high emotionality. The truth is our minds aren’t always accurate or in alignment with our highest selves. Our minds create stories.  I learned this lesson the hard way recently.  Read More

Do You Need To Set Boundaries With Yourself?

Do You Need To Set Boundaries With Yourself?

We’ve all heard of setting boundaries with others so they don’t walk all over us and we fall into the people pleasing trap.  Been there, done that, still working on it!  But, have you ever thought of setting boundaries with yourself?  Sometimes we might feel resistance around doing something we know will make us feel better.  Other times we just find we struggle to actually put that thing into action and start that meditation practice or get that movement in.  Setting boundaries with ourselves keeps us accountable and helps us start to shift habits that don’t serve our best interest. You Can Gain More By Consuming Less

You Can Gain More By Consuming Less

When I started on my journey of health it started out with physical health, therefore I consumed information on nutrition and exercise. Then I began to focus more on hormonal health and consumed information again on nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress reduction and all things that support hormonal health. When I focused on my digestion, I did the same. Then I started to focus on my mental, emotion and spiritual health and again consumed all the information I could get my hands on in the form of podcasts, books, blogs, etc. Read More

Are You Confused About What Real Self-Love Is?

Are You Confused About What Real Self-Love Is?

Self-love is a hot topic these days and for good reason! The problem is, I’m noticing some confusion over what self-love really is. I recently had someone contact me asking me if I was interested in joining their self love challenge. This person went on to explain that the self-love challenge included workouts, a super flexible meal plan with portion control containers, superfoods meal replacement shake, as well as support and accountability. This actually kind of irritated me at first. Read More

Are You A Self-Sacrificer?

Are You A Self-Sacrificer?

You may think that’s a funny question, but self-sacrificing, also known as people pleasing is contributing to your struggle with food. The more I dig into the inner work for myself, the more I can see how much of a people pleaser I’ve been over the years. I can also see how much this has truly affected me in a negative way. It’s caused me to hold onto negative energy for years, which for a long time has been the perfect opportunity to numb with food. Read More

How To Actually Practice Feeling Your Emotions

How To Actually Practice Feeling Your Emotions

You might have heard that it’s important to feel your emotions and that you shouldn’t stuff them down. That doing so can contribute to using food as a coping mechanism (a.k.a. Binge eating).  I say this all the time and it’s all good and dandy in theory, but maybe you’ve realized you have no clue how to actually feel your emotions or where to start. My intention with this post is to give you some guidance in where to start and take some of the pressure off. I mean, you’ve likely been stuffing your emotions down for years, so you’re not going to immediately be able to feel them overnight. Read More

Why I Think You Should Feed Your Inner Child Ice Cream

Why I Think You Should Feed Your Inner Child Ice Cream

I talk a lot about intuitive eating and listening to our bodies when it comes to food.  As you know I am not big on labelling the way we eat or creating rules and restrictions around our diets.  I have addressed the fact that when we release control it doesn’t mean we will eat all the things, all the time.  When we truly listen to our body and not our mind, we will more often than not reach for whole foods.  Our bodies want to be healthy and feel good, but sometimes we get a craving for something like ice cream of fries, which I think we should feed our inner child. Are You In Tune With Your Hunger Signals?

Are You In Tune With Your Hunger Signals?

Recently I started bringing more awareness to my hunger signals and realized I have some work to do here. I’m currently taking the Hungry For Happiness Certification, which will certify me as an Intuitive Eating and Body Freedom Coach. In our first lesson we talked about physical hunger versus emotional hunger and whether or not we feel safe in our physical hunger. I quickly noticed that I don’t always feel physical hunger in my stomach, so I wanted to share more about hunger and intuitive eating in this post. Read More

The Most Important Tool You Have Is Your Breath

The Most Important Tool You Have Is Your Breath

One of my many favourite topics in yoga teacher training was on the breath.  Our breath is the gateway to our parasympathetic nervous system, which can literally calm the stress response system.  The other benefit is that it takes mindfulness to focus on our breath so will naturally increase our awareness.  Both of these reasons are incredibly helpful when we are feeling disconnected and ready to reach for food.
