The Importance of Acceptance

Acceptance is a key piece to the healing journey when it comes to your relationship with food and your body.  When we start looking underneath the food we begin to uncover parts of ourselves we’ve been pushing down for years.  These are parts of ourselves we feel we need to hide.  They make us feel uncomfortable, anxious, perhaps even angry.  We fear others seeing these parts of ourselves because we think they will reject us.  We think these parts of us make us unlovable. Are You Really Speaking Your Truth Or Using It As An Excuse?

We hear of the importance of speaking our truth and using our voices all the time and I agree. I am learning though that there is a big difference between speaking our truth, which comes from our highest selves, to spewing words that come from our ego or wounded inner child. People can use speaking their truth as an excuse to say whatever is on their minds when they’re in a place of high emotionality. The truth is our minds aren’t always accurate or in alignment with our highest selves. How To Actually Practice Feeling Your Emotions

You might have heard that it’s important to feel your emotions and that you shouldn’t stuff them down. That doing so can contribute to using food as a coping mechanism (a.k.a. Binge eating).  I say this all the time and it’s all good and dandy in theory, but maybe you’ve realized you have no clue how to actually feel your emotions or where to start. My intention with this post is to give you some guidance in where to start and take some of the pressure off.
